Gopalkrishna G. Rao

The Co-Founder of Eskay Therapeutics Ltd – is a Pharmacist by profession.

 

Attending the prestigious BITS Pilani (India) where he undertook intensive industry training in manufacturing and product formulation development.

 

Upon graduation in 1984 he started off as a Medical Detail man for an MNC in India. This gave a firm grounding in the basics of pharmaceutical promotion and interaction with the medical profession and pharmaceutical trade.

 

Moving on to understand the other aspects of the pharmaceutical industry a stint on product management helped develop skills in marketing related subjects of product identification / development / design / positioning / communication and product promotion.

The early 90’s in India saw the growth in the Indian Pharma export sector and the moved to a position in exports. Exposure to European / African and Middle East pharma trade gave a fair understanding of the opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector on a global scale.

 

This then led to an opportunity to move to Ghana in 1995 and start a Pharmaceutical company. Sensing the long term advantage of local manufacturing he took up the challenging task of setting up a manufacturing unit with a very small team in 1998 – Eskay Therapeutics ltd.

 

Today Eskay Therapeutics ltd is a well-established company with our 150 direct full time and contract employees. A dedicated professional he undertook the professional qualifying examination of the Ghana Pharmacy Council and is a registered Pharmacist and Member of Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana. The found – Gopalkrishna Rao has over 35 years of experience in pharmaceuticals and is actively involved in the strategic planning of the company’s growth strategies. Being passionate about local manufacturing in Ghana – he is a strong advocate and founding member of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer of Ghana.

 

On the professional side the ensures a very disciplined approach to developing a customer centric work culture with emphasis on Interpersonal Relations and often users the “Iron fist in a velvet glove”. A close interaction with employees at all levels and departments helps in the understanding of implementation of policies and ensuring that all are committed to the company’s objectives.

 

A strong sense of commitment to suppliers and ensuring strict compliance to supplier’s contracts has been the cornerstone of the company’s credibility and remains very integral to the company’s relations with suppliers and customers.

 

Despite the demanding work schedule he takes time out to update by attending cross functional professional development programs and be actively involved in social activities.

 

He continues to maintain constant touch with industry colleagues, vendors and customers and friends and colleges and its always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
